Momcilo explores the institutional and structural conditions of cooperation and social capital and applies this to problems faced by informal, values-aligned communities like Life Itself.
He suggest that deep collaboration can be accelerated but only through mutual investment, commitment, and risk—trust doesn’t reliably “emerge” at the level needed, so it must be deliberately engineered via developmental spaces and possibly pledge-based systems with visibility/verification and social incentives.
On social capital, he draws on Mark Granovetter’s “strength of weak ties” (weak ties bridge clusters and create serendipitous high-value connections) and Ray Oldenburg’s “third places” (cafés, markets, bookstores as casual mixing zones), arguing these have eroded as services become more anonymous. From there he shifts to “MVP” thinking: what would a minimal viable transformative relationship / cooperation paradigm look like that could actually scale?
